Hidden Cup stands as one of the “S tier” tournaments in the competitive landscape of Age of Empires 2, eagerly anticipated by fans since its beginning in 2018.. As the creator of the Hidden Cup, T90 is going to host the latest tournament once again. If you are not familiar with what Hidden Cup is, you will find all the answers down below.

What is Hidden Cup 5?

Hidden Cup is a tournament in which the best Age of Empires 2 players, such as The Viper, Hera, Mr_Yo, Liereyy, JorDan_AoE, compete to prove themselves on one of the most followed tournaments of the game. What makes it special that throughout the tournament, neither the viewers, commentators, nor even the players themselves know the true identities of the competitors until its conclusion, adding an air of mystery and excitement to each match.

Before the tournament begins, every player will be assigned cryptic nicknames known to only themselves. Those nicknames are going to be drawn from a list featuring historical commanders such as Alexios Komnenos, Gajah Mada, and Vasco da Gama.

For instance, audience might witness a match between Pachacuti and Jean Bureau without knowing their real identities. Thus, viewers will have an opportunity to guess who are the players behind those nicknames. Each match will evoke a tension in the minds of players das they remain unaware of their opponents’ identities, thus leaving them clueless about their strategies and playstyle.

Who are competing in Hidden Cup 5?

Even though true identities of players will remain concealed during matches, we know who are the 16 players competing in the tournament. 16 participants of Hidden Cup 5 are:

There are going to be 13 different maps, mostly land maps with some hybrid ones. Hidden Cup 5 maps will consist of Arabia, Bay, Bypass, Cross, Cup, Evacuation, Gold Rush, Hidden Forts, High Tides, Islands, Mudflow, Quarry, Slopes.

Hidden Cup 5 Prize Pool

The total prize pool, $40.000, is going to be spread among 16 individual player. Every player will be competing for the chance to win the grand prize of $9,400.

• 16th to 9th – $1,200
• 5th to 8th – $2,000
• 4th – $3,000
• 3rd – $4,000
• 2nd – $6,000
• 1st – $9,400

When does the final game take place?

Accordingly, tournament kicks off on February 25th with the initial matches of Round of 16. Following seven days of intense matchups, the winner will be revealed on March 3rd.

Round of 16, Quarterfinals and Semifinals are going to be Best of 7. While players who reach final will have to get at least 5 wins to be the champion. Additionally, 3rd place match will be a Best of 5 matchup.
