A Minecraft Movie

Warner Bros. and Legendary bring the adaptation of one of the best-selling video games in history to the big screen. 10 years after the announcement of the Minecraft movie, the first teaser trailer is finally here.

Directed by Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre writer and director Jared Hess, “A Minecraft Movie” stars Jack Black, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge.

According to the synopsis, four misfits, Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Jason Momoa), Natalie (Emma Myers), Henry (Sebastian Hansen) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks), are pulled through a portal into a strange world. To return home, they must embark on a magical adventure alongside Steve (Jack Black), an expert crafter, to protect this world from the Piglins and the Zombies.

Minecraft allows players to create 3D worlds using blocks. Last year, Minecraft became the first video game to surpass 300 million copies worldwide. The Swedish developer behind the game, Mojang Studios, was acquired by Microsoft in 2014. The movie was announced way back in 2014 and underwent several rewrites due to changes in the project. Then, like many Hollywood productions, it faced delays during the pandemic lockdowns.

A Minecraft Movie will be hitting theaters on April 4th, 2025. You can watch the first teaser trailer below.
