Mortal Kombat 1 officially announced!

NetherRealm Studios finally announced the long-awaited new Mortal Kombat game with a CGI trailer. The game will be released this September.

After weeks of small teases and rumors, publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer NetherRealm Studios officially announced the new Mortal Kombat game with a cinematic trailer. Mortal Kombat 1, which will take the series into the past, will be released this September.

This first trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 confirms the return of some familiar faces. The characters featured in the trailer are Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Mileena and Shang Tsung. NetherRealm has confirmed that these characters will appear in Story Mode, but has not yet revealed what other game modes will appear in Mortal Kombat 1.

NetherRealm calls MK1 a “Mortal Kombat Universe reborn with reimagined versions of iconic characters created by the Fire God Liu Kang.” The developer promises a brand new combat system, game modes and iconic fatalities of the series. Mortal Kombat 1 will also include a new feature called Kameo Fighters, which is described as a unique squad of partners to support you in fights.

Players who pre-order the Premium Edition will receive early access starting September 14 with 1,250 Dragon Krystals, Jean-Claude Van Damme inspired Johnny Cage skin, early access to six new playable characters, and five new Kameo will achieve. Also, those who pre-order the game will be eligible to participate in the beta for PS5 and Xbox Series in August. Lastly, after launch, NetherRealm will add cross-play and cross-progression.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on 19th September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC and Nintendo Switch.
