The Last of Us Part II Remastered to be released on Playstation 5

Naughty Dog Team has announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered, a sequel to the original game released in 2020, The Last of Us. Gamers will have the opportunity to experience Ellie and Abby’s emotional journey on the PlayStation 5 console starting January 19, 2024.

TLOU Part II Remastered offers many reasons for both new and returning players to revisit the story. These include technological improvements, new game modes, and new behind-the-scenes features.

New Game Modes in The Last of Us Part II Remastered

No Return Mode

The Last of Us Part II Remastered lets players to dive further into its development and mechanics, while introducing a new roguelike survival mode ‘No Return‘. This mode lets players experience The Last of Us Part II’s combat in a completely different way and engage in a fresh experience.

No Return Mode also includes a host of playable characters to choose from, each having their own traits and different playstyles. Players will be able to choose their own course on each run, having the options between various stealth and combat encounters. Players fight against a range of enemies and overcome unexpected factors.

Each run offers players a new chance to decide what rewards they would like to get after each encounter. Rewards include unlocking more characters, skins, and competing on a global leaderboard as part of a Daily Run, and more.

The new ‘No Return’ mode

Similar to the playable guitar section featured in The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog Team introduces a new Guitar Free Play mode in the sequel, and let players to play as different characters, unlock instruments, use audio FX pedals, and impress others with their performances as rockstars.

New Behind-the-scenes Features

Both new and returning players are interested in learning more about the story will get a chance to be offered The Last of Us Part II Remastered’s comprehensive behind-the-scenes. This provides a glimpse into the creation process, offering insights into the early development stages. Players can also take a look at some of the playable sequences cut from the game.

Director Neil Druckmann, narrative lead Halley Gross, and actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Laura Bailey state that they are delighted to give fans even more understanding of the team’s approach to this story.

New Enhanced Graphics

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will feature enhanced graphics, and different graphic modes, including Fidelity Mode (native 4K output), Performance Mode (1440p upscaled to 4K), an Unlocked Framerate (for TVs with VRR support).

Furthermore, increased texture resolution, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, bring the story in richer and smoother detail. Taking advantage of the PS5’s power and features in various ways, such as improved loading times, and haptic feedback, Part II Remastered offers players an immersive gaming experience.

Release and Preorder Date of The Last of Us Part II Remastered

While the game is set to release in January 19, 2024, preorders for the standard edition, as well as The Last of Us Part II Remastered W.L.F. Edition will be available from December 5 on in select markets: United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Benelux, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Austria. The preorder packaging will come with a SteelBook display case, enamel pins, a Washington Liberation Front Patch, and Society of Champions trading cards.

Owners of The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to a digital version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for 10 USD. It will also be possible to import previous saves from the original game to Part II Remastered.
