David F. Sandberg’s live-action Until Dawn movie has started filming.

Following the success of Uncharted and Gran Turismo, PlayStation Productions is adapting another video game for the big screen but this time will be spooky. Filming has officially begun on Until Dawn, an adaptation of the narrative survival horror game released by Supermassive Games for PlayStation 4.

Until Dawn will be directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, Shazam). The film is being written by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, It, The Nun), who is also a producer on the project. The cast includes Michael Cimino, Ella Rubin, Odessa A’zion, and Maia Mitchell. Peter Stormare will also reprise his role as therapist Dr. Hill from the original game. The horror game Until Dawn was first released for PlayStation 4 in August 2015.

“I’ve been longing to do horror again after Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, and this film explores the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible.”

“Capturing the essence of the game but with new characters, it serves as a great stand-alone introduction to the world for the newcomer as well as offers something new that the fans of the game will enjoy.” Sandberg told The Hollywood Reporter last week.

Until Dawn is expected to be released in theaters in 2025. Here’s the first official set photo shared on X.

Additionally, the Until Dawn remaster is also set to hit PlayStation 5 and PC later this year.
