Her yıl aralık ayında düzenlenen video oyunu ödül töreni The Game Awards bu gece yapılan aday tanıtım töreniyle başladı. The Game Awards 2021, 30 farklı kategoriden onlarca oyuna ev sahipliği yaptı. Halka açık oylama yöntemiyle son bulacak final gecesi 9 Aralık’ta gerçekleşecek.
Bu senenin öne çıkan oyunu tam dokuz ödüle aday gösterilen Deathloop oldu. Diğer yıldızı parlak yapımlar ise altı ödüle aday gösterilen Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ve beş ödüle aday gösterilen It Takes Two‘du. Yılın Oyunu’nda adaylar güçlü, Resident Evil Village, Metroid Dread ve Psychonauts 2 yer alıyor.
